Automated picking solutions

Smarter, faster picking at scale

Overview

Our automated picking solutions are built for modern warehouses that need to pick faster, with fewer errors, and less reliance on manual labour. Powered by our intelligent Inteq Warehousing Software (IWS), these systems connect seamlessly with a range of automation technologies, from pick-to-light to AMRs, to create high-speed, high-accuracy fulfilment operations that scale as you grow. With faster cut-off times, higher pick accuracy, and smoother peak performance, our solutions help you secure more orders, delight your customers, and gain a competitive edge.

Picking

Challenges faced

Warehouses today are under pressure to fulfil more orders, faster, and at lower cost, all while managing labour shortages and rising complexity.

Common issues include:

  • Slow, manual processes that limit throughput and increase operational costs.
  • High error rates are causing returns and harming customer satisfaction.
  • Complex order profiles, especially in e-commerce environments with small, frequent, multi-line orders.
  • Limited scalability, particularly during peak trading periods or rapid business growth.
  • Fragmented systems, where software and hardware don’t talk to each other effectively.
  • Labour shortages, making it difficult and costly to staff traditional picking models.
  • Inteq helps you overcome these challenges with hardware-agnostic solutions and intelligent software that adapts to your warehouse environment.

Application

Our systems are built to support a wide range of warehouse formats and fulfilment strategies:

  • E-commerce fulfilment centres with high order volumes and fast turnaround times.
  • Pallet and carton-based warehouses requiring scalable performance.
  • Operations with added complexity, including kitting, returns processing, or value-added services.
  • Facilities using goods-to-person models or hybrid manual-automated workflows.

With IWS at the core, our picking solutions integrate directly with ERP and e-commerce platforms, giving you full visibility and control across your fulfilment operations.

Our solutions

There are several advanced goods-to-person technologies available that can bring flexibility, scalability, and increased capacity to your picking operations.

Pick-to-light systems

Pick-to-light systems use visual indicators to guide operators directly to pick locations, highlighting the exact stock position and quantity required. This method improves speed and accuracy while reducing training time and operator errors. It’s especially effective in high-throughput environments where rapid, repeatable performance is essential.

Voice directed picking

Voice-directed picking enables hands-free operation by guiding users with spoken instructions. Operators receive clear commands on item location and quantity, and confirm picks using voice input, allowing them to work efficiently without diverting attention from the task. Integrated with IWS, it supports dynamic, waveless picking and real-time updates, helping boost productivity and safety across complex workflows.

Handheld scanners

Handheld scanners are portable data terminals that connect with IWS to support barcode scanning for item verification and live inventory updates. This technology underpins flexible, mobile picking workflows while reducing errors and improving traceability at every stage of the pick.

RF picking

RF picking uses radio frequency communication between handheld devices and warehouse systems to deliver real-time task updates and confirmation. Pickers are guided by mobile radio terminals, enabling live tracking of inventory movements while enhancing speed, accuracy, and overall workflow flexibility.

Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs)

AMRs autonomously transport goods within the warehouse, reducing manual handling and freeing up staff to focus on value-adding tasks. Integrated with IWS, they play a key role in goods-to-person picking strategies by significantly reducing travel time and enabling coordinated, high-efficiency operations.

Automated Shuttle Systems

Automated shuttle systems offer high-density storage and fast retrieval by moving goods directly to picking stations. These solutions increase throughput and maximise available space, making them ideal for operations dealing with small loads and requiring rapid, automated replenishment.

Mini-load solutions

Mini-load systems are designed to handle smaller cartons or items at high speed. These crane-based technologies bring stock to the operator quickly and reliably, making them well-suited to e-commerce and small parts environments where high pick rates and dense storage are priorities.

Carousels

Carousels are rotating storage systems that deliver items directly to the picker, helping reduce operator movement and increase picking speed. Particularly effective in high-SKU environments, they provide dense storage for small items and can be tightly integrated with IWS to optimise batching and control.

01

Our investment in collaborative robotic technology means we have greater flexibility in our operations for customers, enabling us to better manage the fluctuating product volumes associated with high volume eFulfilment work. Overall we were very impressed with the approach and the level of innovation that Inteq brought to the project, integrating multiple technologies to produce a highly efficient, robust and cost-effective operation.

In the last 18 months I have seen Inteq grow from strength to strength, I was part of the initial process where we recruited Greenstone to support with the servicing and repairs of our Conveyer and box machines, they have grown in that time from suppling engineers to helping us optimise the equipment, expand the area and incorporate changes to layout and process. With the team now fully established at the SDC, I feel we are is such a better situation, with limited downtime, planned preventative maintenance and increased productivity. The Inteq team have done a great job, and I am extremely happy with the service that they have provided.

Since dealing with the Inteq project team for the Stanton / Under Armour implementation I have been impressed with the level of service, knowledge and can-do attitude. These qualities have continued within the residency solution whereby the site is supported in a number of key measures such as a detailed PPM schedule, training staff on equipment, stores / spares management and building support. The weekly review meetings with the team ensure everything is effectively managed within agreed time frames.
